The assignment was to select a car brand, explore its history and brand values, and create a product that aligns with its identity. I chose to research the Ford Mustang. I’ve highlighted some of the company’s key concepts based on their primary demographic target, the Baby Boomers.
YearMay 2016
Baby boomers grew up with Rock and Roll and TV westerns, they wanted to have things to brag about, objects on display. People no longer wanted to go somewhere but wanted to be seen going there “here was a market in search of a car.”.
In today’s world, certain products allow us to express our unique identities and preferences, much like the diverse range of Mustangs. Consider items like jackets, sunglasses, phones, phone cases, headphones, watches, earrings, and backpacks. Each of these products offers multiple options to suit different styles and needs, just as the Mustang lineup caters to various driving desires. Whether it’s a sleek leather jacket, high-tech smartwatch, or customized phone case, these items, like the Mustang, let you showcase your individuality and enhance your lifestyle, making every choice distinctly yours.
These backpacks remind one of the American pony car, Ford Mustang 1965. The shape of the backpack was inspired by the car’s outlines and retains some of the details like the horses and the chair plate.
