The brief was to design a new idea for an inflatable object. Kanga Boom is an inflatable speaker designed for young people. The speaker is in the center of of attention by bouncing around at the sound of every beat.

Just like the Ash Tray by Nick Crosbie, 1995 or Egg Cup by Mike Sodeau 1995, Kanga Boom is a novelty object. The purpose is to be a fun and quirky inflatable speaker which is bouncing around at the sound of every beat. It’s not intended for high accuracy sound reproduction but it’s an rather an experimental speaker where people can try and see how it bounces on different songs.
The sound is influenced by fully inflated chamber. The idea is that with every base beat the speaker bounces higher and higher.
The speaker holder is partially inflated. The speaker will move only the rubber film to the rhythm of the music. The vinyl pieces are displayed on the right side.
