The brief was to model a seating object with a backrest that has curved shape, convex and concave surfaces and at least one flat surface. The modeled surface needs to be of Class A precision. A topological optimization will be applied to the seating object and then remodeled after the resulted shape.

Palo Alto are sofas modeled to have Class A precision. The surface is shiny to reflect the environment and to show the lack of imperfections in the modeled surface. The topological optimized sofa created holes in the surface, that they can be used as storage.
The surface is checked with zebra to indicates whether the object it is properly constructed and if the surface has continuity.
Placement of forces, direction and area is set. Then the minimum surface area is calculated and the raw surface is generated. After the resulted shape, another sofa is modeled.
